Overview
HiLo is a card-prediction multi-step game. You're shown a card from a shuffled 52-card deck. Predict if the next card is higher or lower. Correct = multiplier grows. Wrong = round ends. Cash out anytime. More predictions stacked = bigger multiplier at the cost of win probability.
How to play HiLo
- 1Bet is placed. A full 52-card deck is shuffled via HMAC-SHA256-derived Fisher-Yates.
- 2First card is shown. Pick 'higher' or 'lower' for the next.
- 3If correct, multiplier stacks based on probability-implied odds. Wrong = round ends, bet lost.
- 4Cash out any time to lock current multiplier × bet.
- 5Some cards are closer to edges (Ace/King) — prediction is easier there, so multiplier grows slower.
The math
Each prediction multiplier = 0.99 × (52 / cards-that-satisfy-prediction). Predicting 'higher' on a 7 has 6 success cards (8,9,10,J,Q,K) out of 52 remaining — multiplier 0.99 × 52/6 = 8.58x. Predicting 'higher' on a King has ~0 successes, so the option is removed from UI.
Strategy notes
- →Cards near middle (6–8) give best multiplier range per prediction.
- →Avoid 'stretch' predictions where UI offers a low-probability option — you're sold the high multiplier, the math still gives 1% edge.
- →4–6 correct predictions in a row is the realistic cashout sweet spot. Longer runs are mathematically possible but exponentially rare.
- →Auto-cashout at fixed multiplier works well (e.g. cash out at 5x → ~3 correct predictions avg).
FAQ
Is deck tracking possible?▾
Yes. Each card is drawn once per round, deck is finite. Theoretically counting helps — but the multiplier adjusts per remaining deck, so there's no 'count' edge like in blackjack.
What happens on ties?▾
If the next card has the same rank, the round continues with the same multiplier (no win, no loss on that step).
Highest multiplier achievable?▾
Theoretically thousands of x via perfect 20+ card runs — but probability makes it essentially zero. Realistic top multipliers: ~50x on 6-correct runs, ~300x on 8-correct.
