Plinko
Drop a ball. Watch it pachinko. Win a multiplier slot.
Overview
Plinko is the visual highlight of the X24 Originals. A ball drops through a triangular peg array and settles into one of several bottom slots, each with a multiplier. Row count and risk profile control the math — edges have high multipliers but rare hits, center is safe but low payout.
How to play Plinko
- 1Pick row count: 8, 12, or 16. More rows = more slots = wider multiplier spread.
- 2Pick risk: low, medium, high. Controls the multiplier table applied to bottom slots.
- 3Place bet and release ball. Each peg is a 50/50 left-or-right determined from HMAC-SHA256.
- 4Ball settles in a slot — you win bet × that slot's multiplier.
- 5No mid-round decisions. Great for autoplay.
The math
Probability of landing in slot k (0-indexed) after N rows is binomial: C(N, k) / 2^N. 12 rows → center slot 22.6%, slot ±1 21.4%, extreme slots 0.024%. High-risk profile has a sub-1.0x center multiplier (you LOSE on center hits), rewarding only edge hits — same EV 99%, much higher variance.
Strategy notes
- →Low risk, 8–12 rows: slow grind, low variance, good for bonus-clearing wagering.
- →High risk, 16 rows: edge multipliers up to 1,000x — but expect ~400 bets between hits.
- →Medium risk, 12 rows: sweet spot for most players — feels dynamic without wiping bankrolls.
- →Autoplay works well here — no decisions during play means no dopamine loss from automation.
FAQ
Can I influence where the ball lands?▾
No. The path is fully deterministic from HMAC-SHA256 before release. The animation just reveals the pre-computed outcome.
Which profile has the best odds?▾
All profiles have 99% RTP. Odds of winning any amount vary, but EV is identical across configurations.
Why does high-risk center pay less than 1x?▾
To compensate for the massively inflated edge multipliers. If center paid 1x+, the EV would exceed 99%, so the math has to be rebalanced downward.
